GTA 6 Map Leaks vs Reality: What Turned Out to Be True?

The Leak That Started It All
Back in 2022, a massive GTA 6 leak shook the gaming world. Footage, screenshots, and even parts of the map were shared across the web. At the time, no one knew if it was real or a very elaborate hoax. Today, with Rockstar confirming some of the details, we can finally compare those leaks with what’s actually in the game — and the results are surprising.
What Was Accurate?
Many of the leaks correctly identified Vice City as the main setting. The leaked minimap layouts also matched early gameplay reveals, including swamps, suburban zones, and highway structures. Specific location names and street layouts were surprisingly close to what we now see in the official game world. Even character animations and interiors turned out to be real.
What Was Fake or Exaggerated?
Some rumors suggested GTA 6 would span multiple countries, or include an entire continent — which was false. Others predicted a “time travel” mechanic or multiple timelines, which haven’t been confirmed in any way. As with any leak, a lot of speculation got mixed with real content, so separating fact from fiction was difficult until the game was revealed.
